La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet is an absolute treat for boutique cigar lovers, combining one of the tastiest, most naturally sweet wrappers known to cigars with the spice and strength of Dominican long-fillers.

La Flor Dominicana hails from the Dominican Republic and is well-known for its robust, full-flavored blends. The Cameroon Cabinet is no exception. This small-batch cigar comes packaged in big, cedar chests of 50 sans cigar bands, and contains a select blend made with a 4-year old Cameroon wrapper. The blend consists of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-leaf tobaccos inside a Dominican binder. The smoke is complex, but smooth, offering a toasty array of nuts and spice with a rich, long aftertaste.

This beer is sooo fresh from the brewery we had to call one of the brewers to get you the legit description!  Thank you James Bruner!
Sucker punch – Pours a hazy golden orange with fluffy cloud white head that dissipates slowly to leave good lacing. Aroma of pungent zesty tart citrus from the pomelo with accompanying tropical and piney hop character from the zythos and mosaic. Taste has a big citrus bite up front with a nice malty balance, juicy hops in the middle, and a pithy bitterness to round it out. The fruit and hops blend nicely, a medium body and soft carbonation make this a crushable IPA.

Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting this past Saturday was a blast!
We had a bus full of our Lincoln Family accompany us and we flew to the cask’s with our glasses!
We really were just pumped to have had an opportunity to be a part of this great event.  We could not wait to taste the Cherry Street Brewing Triple Chocolate Chunk Stout that they graciously collaborated with us on.  It was delicious and to our delight received not one, but two awards.  1st in Specialty Style and the second award was peoples choice!!!   As always an amazingly executed job by Cherry Street Brewing, thank you!

Cherokee Rose – Sour/American Wild Ale

The most unique beer you’ll ever taste, the Cherokee Rose is destined to be Georgia’s State Beer! Using local yeast from a Cherokee Rose flower, this beer boasts the 2nd wild yeast strain harvested in Georgia, second only to SBC’s Wild Azalea, the state’s first. With very slight hints of banana and vanilla, (derived straight from the yeast itself), this beer will please your tastebuds with its floral hints and local taste.


Apparently we aren’t the only ones who love some SBC!  What a great turn out for their tap takeover.  Beers were kicking left and right.  Thank you to everyone who came out!  Let’s get ready to do it again this weekend!

Cigar of the Week
CAO Mx2 Robusto

Wrapped in a well-fermented broadleaf Connecticut Maduro, bound with spicy Brazilian Maduro and filled with sweet and spicy fillers from Central American, Mx2 is an intense and vibrant escape. With its medium body, earthy aroma, and lingering finish, the CAO Mx2 is one of the most popular Maduro cigars available.


Beer of the Week: Breckenridge 471 Bourbon Barrel Aged

Style: Double IPA

ABV: 9.2%

Breckenridge Brewery has released the first in its new 471 IPA Barrel Series. The series features the brewery’s celebrated 471 Double IPA which is aged in whiskey barrels then dry hopped using a new hop variety every quarter.

Brewery Director Todd Usry explains, “We pamper this beer. One might call it high-maintenance, but we’re extremely proud of the outcome.” The final dry hop treatment puts flavor and aroma back in the beer that barrels may otherwise overcome. Brandon Osha, the brewery’s cellar master, elaborates, “We move the beer as usual from tank to filtration to barrel, but then we take it back into tanks for dry hop treatment and follow that up with a final filtration.” He goes on to add, “Yeah, it’s kind of laborious, but it’s worth it.”

The first release of 471 IPA Barrel Series features Hüll Melon hops in the dry hop stage. “The aroma of Hüll Melon is really unique – a nice shift from the more common floral and citrus hop attributes,” shares Usry. Traces of honey dew melon and apricot accompany the rich whiskey and slightly smoky scents that the barrels lend. Classic oaky flavors from the barrels are present beginning to end, joined by a bit of vanilla and nutmeg. The base 471 Double IPA is known for its big malty mouth feel, and this variation of the beer is no exception.

Gurkha Classic Havana

After years of searching years for the perfect concoction of wrapper, binder, and filler, the guys at Gurkha have uncovered a Cuban-esque blend for the record books. They took their time with this one, meticulously tweaking the blend over twenty times until they knew they had achieved the perfect Havana flavor profile. Introducing Gurkha Classic Havana Blend, a nod to those revered blends of Cuba’s past.

Hailing from the fertile soils of Nicaragua that prove time and time again to encompass many of the same qualities as the revered Cubans of the past, Classic Havana Blend delivers in spades. Rocking a milk chocolaty Mexican San Andres wrapper, this gem begs to be lit at first sight. Creature Comforts Dry Hopped Athena

We tell everyone to crave curiosity, well here’s us being curious. We took everyone’s favorite berliner and added a cool twist by dry hopping with Galaxy hops for a limited batch.
Dry hopping is a technique often used in IPAs where hops are added directly to the fermenter at the tail end of fermentation. Normally hops are added in the kettle or whirlpool during the brewing process, so adding at this stage is a little bit different, hence why it garners a different name – dry hopping.
Galaxy hops are an extraordinary Australian varietal that have a bright, juicy, fruit flavor they add to the beer. You may be a little familiar with this hop because Creature Comforts uses it as one of the hops in Tropicalia, but this is Galaxy all by itself. This version of Athena is a little tart, a little juicy, a little hoppy… it makes Athena a totally different beer that we really like.

Exodus 1959 has been the Torano’s long-time flagship brand, earning a stellar 92-rating and other top cigar honors. Named for the year the Torano family fled Cuba, their ‘Exodus’ has just reached its 50-year milestone. So to commemorate the occasion, the Toranos have worked up something truly special….Torano Exodus 1959 ’50 Years’.

This special edition Exodus is gorgeous, draped in a sun-grown Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper. This dark, thick leaf is responsible for a flood of rich, decadent flavors. On the inside is a specially selected mix of Nicaraguan long-fillers from the Esteli and Pueblo Nuevo regions. The combination produces a plethora of flavors including notes of cocoa, earth, spices, sweetness and a long satisfying finish. Smooth, balanced and complex, Exodus 1959 ’50 Years’ is another brilliant work from the celebrated Torano family.

Inspired by great Trappist ales, Goose Island’s complex Belgian Style Pale Ale is fermented with the wild yeast Brettanomyces. Matilda pours a golden sunrise color with dried fruit and clove aromas, a spicy yeast flavor, and a satisfying dry finish.

According to legend, a grateful Countess Matilda founded a monastery where, over centuries, monks have been brewing ale unique in character. While in Belgium, the brewers were inspired by the story and the monks’ beer. They returned to Chicago and brewed their homage – a Belgian Style Pale Ale named Matilda.

Enter the new Alec Bradley Connecticut. Sounds kind of generic I know, but the good news is the Connecticut boasts an array of big-time flavors, all while remaining pleasant and tame in body. Dressed in a seamless Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper, and chock full of Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers, Connecticut produces a highly satisfying mild to medium-bodied experience. Plumes of creamy and cool flavor coat the palate as notes of cedar, nuts, and toast enter the fray before a slightly sweet finish. It’s a lot like a light beer that tastes really damn good.

This charity event is raising money for the Kim Atkins Foundation.
Here are all the details…
Please contact Lincoln Fill Station via email to submit your Chili.  Each submission is $5.00 and must include the name of your Chili and what beer you are using in it.  This is a great time folks, our Chili cookers take this serious and go all out with decorations, props and swag giveaways.  Please remember no monetary bribes will be tolerated, this is first and foremost for charity.  Second to that it’s for fun and your Chili should be the winner!
To come and try the Chili and vote for your favorite in the Peoples Choice category it’s only $20.00 which includes one drink ticket.
Lincoln Fill Station will provide portion cups, napkins and tasting utensils.
All proceeds go to Kim Atkins Foundation.

ABV:  5.3%Jekyll’s true lager, this Oktoberfest style beer is full-bodied, sweet, and bready. In Marzen-style fashion, this beer is dark copper in color and has a mild hop presence. It’s the perfect beer for when that crisp air starts coming down Seven Bridges Road.

Lincoln in Belgium!

Tiny, Steph, Brad & Tara just came back from a Beer tour in Belgium.

We may or may not have visited the basement of the Delirium Cafe multiple nights, and may or may not be there in these poor quality photos you see below. 😉  I can say that Delirium is a must see and possibly stay for a while!

This amazing beer tour was booked through Brewtopia Events via Owen Ogletree

We traveled through cities and country sides to find the origins of Lambic, Gueze and Belgian Style Beers.
Our brewery visits included…
De Cam – Pure passion keeps this Lambic mixer driven.  Blending and aging De Cam was founded in 1997 by master brewer Willem van Herreweghen, and was later taken over by Karel Goddeau.  Karel brews for Brouwerij Slaghmuylder by day and blends lambic by nigh at De Cam

Verzet – Joran Brewmaster at our very own Three Taverns got his start here.  There are only three Belgian brewers working in the U.S., and two of them are related. Joran Van Ginderachter follows in the footsteps of his uncle Peter Bouckaert, who today works at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins.

Wesvleteren – a brewery founded in 1838 at the Trappis Abbey of Saint Sixtus.  The brewery’s three beers have acquired an international reputation for taste and quality, Westvleteren 12 being considered by some to be the best beer in the world.  It doesn’t hurt that the Monks are not brewing for commercial demands making the small quantites that are sold weekly coveted by locals and travelers from around the world, like us!

Inter-Pol – This tiny, and I do mean tiny Brewery is owned and operated by Pol and his lovely wife who also have a charming Bed and Breakfast.  Most everyone, except me had to duck to enter this adorable brewery.  Every inch is covered with eye catching details and Pol is happy to tell you a story about every one!Het Anker – started brewing beer 5 generations ago in the Grand Beguinage of Mechelen. In the whisky distillery they are working on the Gouden Carolus Single Malt, which is the perfect combination between the family traditions of brewing and distilling. They also have a brasserie where we enjoyed lunch along with a tasting of their fantastic beers.

Duvel-Moortgat – These folks have been busy!  Moortgat brewery was founded in 1871.  In the early 1970s, when the company was struggling financially, Moortgat bottled and distributed the Danish beer, Tuborg.  In June 1999 they to set up massive distribution channels for their flagship beer, Duvel.

Over the years they have aquired many of our most well known Belgian and American Belgian breweries, such as Ommegang, Brasserie d’Achouffe, DeKonick, Boulevard and Firestone Walker.
Stephanie and I both agreed that watching the bottling line was probably our favorite part of this tour.  Don’t get me wrong our guide was fabulous but the OCD in all of us cannot help but be mesmerized by this massive line, cleaning recycled bottles, filling, labeling and crating this huge distribution.

Brewery Achouffe –  This is my happy place, gnomes, mushrooms, the valley of the fairies and amazing beers, yes please!   The entire tour whas gnomey goodness, just the cutest place.   In the late 1970s two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts, decided to create their own beer, in their own brewery.  In the summer of 2006, the brewery’s founders opted to entrust the fate of their beloved dwarves to the Duvel-Moortgat Brewery. The group is willing to invest in Achouffe and to develop the brewery’s potential.  A must visit if you find your self in Belgium

De Halve Maan Brewery – The ‘Halve Maan’ (Half Moon) is an authentic and historic brewery in the center of Bruges. This brewery is a family business with a tradition stretching back through six generations to 1856.  You can totally tell, this brewery tour literally had me hanging on by my finger nails.  I am still overjoyed I managed not to fall down one of their extremely narrow and steep staircases winding throughout this ancient facility.  One of the highlights was a visit to their roof top where the cooling ship has open air to cool their beers overnight prior to barreling for fermentation. In 2016 a unique two-mile underground pipeline was built to connect the brewery in the city centre to its out-of-town bottling plant, just crazy, a beer pipeline.  They did mention locals were happy to help urging that everyone should have a personal tap along the route.

Cantillion – Need I say more?  This was certainly a highlight to our trip, all of us very much relishing the idea we would be standing in this brewery.  The brewery was founded in 1900 by Paul Cantillon, whose father was a brewer as well.   As of 2011, the owner is Jean-Pierre van Roy, fourth-generation brewer at Cantillon. Since its foundation the only major change has been a shift to organic ingredients in 1999.  Cantillon was one of more than one hundred operating breweries in Brussels  when founded, but the only one remaining through the 2000s.  Our tour guide was Cedric and he was by far the most energetic delightful and educated tour guide.  As we were on a very tight schedule Cedric manged to have us laughing and enthralled in the process of Cantillion’s brewing, so much so that we returned the day after our official brewery tour ended to taste more!

Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen – Last but certainly not least on our tour.  The head of 3 Fonteinen, Armand Debelder, was our tour guide.  What an honor it was to have him guide us through their new facility. The founding of Drie Fonteinen dates back to 1883.  In 1961, Gaston Debelder, purchased the building and expanded their lambic blending business into the inn.  His two sons, Armand and Guido helped manage the Inn and Lambic blending.  Gaston eventually handed the business over to his two sons full-time in 1982. Armand became the head blender (and eventually brewer), while his brother Guido managed the Inn restaurant.  Listening to Armand talk about his triumphs and falters was amazing.  Such a passion for the culture of this beer and his family tradition.  I was very pleased this was our last stop and loved sharing a dusty bottle with him and our group!

To craft these full-bodied firecrackers, a select recipe of bold Nicaraguan long-leaf ligeros is carefully blended, then cloaked by a thick and oily Habano ligero wrapper leaf. Each cigar is crafted into short and stout, 60+ ring frames – in true Nub form – to capture the core flavors these robust tobaccos dish out throughout the entire burn. The end result: layers of flavor with every puff delivered in smooth, balanced fashion. A rich series of leather and hearty spices smack the palate from start to finish, giving room – from time to time – for an intriguing toasty sweetness. Complex, satisfying, and eventful….Cain ‘F’ Nub is a fine achievement from the Oliva factory.


Beer of the Week: Burnt Hickory-The Didjits

Style: American IPA

ABV: 7.5%

Blood Orange IPA. Brewed for the band the Didjits. A Max Wedge meant for the Killboy Powerhead in all of us.
Taps opaque dark apricot with a substantial pale buff head. Aroma delivers orange, malt and hoppy notes, a little sweet, calls for a pull. Flavor brings to mind a classic Orange Julius, but with resiny hops and fresh malt so you this is a real beer. Mouthfeel features firm body, decent fizz, and a sour yet somewhat sweet citrus finish. Killer, powerful

What a great show this was!! We were all looking forward to enjoying the music, sadly this gang has such a huge following we were too busy to really listen! Also too busy to take picutures until the very end, so here is us sweaty and exhausted enjoying the last few songs! 🙂

The encore was something special as the lead singer Brian Williams is a Snellville native. Brian also hinted at the end of the show they may come back next year. I know we’ll be there click here to check out their upcoming dates this is not a band to miss. Thank you to everyone that came out we met some great people and everyone had a blast.
It’s good to be one of the somebodies in Snellville! 😉
