Beer of the Week-on draft
Untitled Art/Jackie O’s Barley Shake– Barleywine– 12%

Untitled Art is a collaboration with Ohio’s Jackie O’s, a brewery famous for barrel aged barleywines and stouts.  This is an English style Barleywine that is brewed with lactose.  When we sampled this yesterday we weren’t sure what to expect, as barleywine can be a sweet style already, and the addition of milk sugars could put it over the top.  Instead the lactose gives the beer a creaminess that works, and the finish is smooth with just loads of toffee.  Dangerously smooth and drinkable for a 12% barleywine.

Cigar of the Week
Camacho Triple Maduro
$11.99 (+10% OFF)

Strength:  Full
Wrapper: Maduro
Origin:  Honduras

A triple threat.

If you want big, bold flavors, then you’ve come to the right place. Camacho often goes head to head with some of the most storied Cuban brands….and comes out on top time after time. These highly complex, intensely flavorful rock star blends come from the fertile soils of Honduras in a climate that rivals the lush Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. Superior, expertly cultivated tobacco leaves are grown at Ranchos Jamastran under the watchful gaze of the Eiroa family.

Camacho Triple Maduro is the world’s first all-maduro cigar. Prepare thyself for an explosion of dark, complex flavors. Triple Maduro was created for fans of a full-bodied blend, and this one is packing heat. You can anticipate rich and hearty undertones of spice and earth that are strong and bold without completely decimating the palate. Evenly constructed and epically dark and inviting, this is one maduro you won’t want to miss. Rumor has it that the Eiroas had to attempt the perfect blend 84 times before they got it right, but by George, they actually did it.

Thank you all for coming out to our Patio Party! There were lots of cute dogs and drinks to be had by all!

We’ve got some great tap take overs coming up! Wait for the next newsletter to see what they are…

Cigar of the Week
Nub Habano
$7.99 (+10% OFF)

Strength:  Medium/Full
Wrapper: Habano
Origin:  Nicaragua

A novel concept in handmade cigars from Oliva….a substantive blend that will make you rethink the cigar experience.

Nub cigars started as a theory. Born in the Oliva factory, a cigar maker was hell-bent on proving he could capture the essence – the core – of a cigar’s flavor immediately upon lighting and throughout the duration of the blend. Well, they nailed it. .
Rather than wait for a cigar to develop and evolve, which typically occurs an inch to two inches in, the idea behind Oliva’s Nub was to specifically blend it to hit its sweet spot right off the bat and remain at its peak right through to the end. Each size is short and stout in stature. That’s by design – not for novelty – as blends and sizes were worked and re-worked a thousand ways from Sunday in order for Nub creator Sam Leccia and the Oliva family to capture the essence of each Nub cigar blend. Anyone can create unusual shapes, each of the Nub blends and accompanying shapes was instead created to summon and deliver the blend’s sweet spot. Sample one today.

Nub cigars come in four varieties. Each variety shares three common sizes, as well as a special vitola specially crafted to accentuate the blend.
Habano – glossy, milk chocolate-brown wrapper. Rich tobacco core with a smoky aftertaste. Hints of peanuts are supported by a baked bread component. Spice through the nose. Medium to full-bodied with a rich, creamy character throughout.

Nub Nuance Limited Edition

Strength: Medium
Wrapper: Indonesian
Origin: Dominican Republic
I’m nubbin’ it.
Nub — the Napoleon of the cigar industry. What do I mean by that? Well, both these handmades and the petite French general are short, stubby, and swept the nation by storm! Starting with the traditionally wrapped Nub line, and moving on to the deliciously coffee-influenced Nub Café, these stout gordos from Oliva capture the best part of cigars in a concentrated form. The newest chapter of the Nub story? Nub Nuance, a lineup of seasonally festive cigars that no one can deny.

Utilizing high-quality Indonesian wrapper, Fall Harvest delivers a dish of pumpkin spice to your palate, while skipping all the calories. Nicaraguan binder and Dominican long-fillers mean you’ll find some slightly sweet tobacco flavors and a slight earthiness in this blend as well. A pleasant combo.

Winter Blend: Continuing the success of the popular Nub Nuance line, Winter Blend is a seasonal blend that you can enjoy any time of year. Super flavorful with notes of coffee and peppermint, Winter Blend is warm and inviting.

Rocky Patel Special Reserve Sun Grown Maduro
$9.99 (+10% OFF)

Strength: Full
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf

Sun Grown goes dark.

Rocky Patel has achieved nearly mythical status in our industry, and as his travel schedule attests, is one of the hardest working men in the biz. Despite this hectic workload, Rocky continues to amaze with one stunning blend after another. This new release adds a maduro option to his fan favorite Sun Grown line.

Sun Grown Maduro is brazenly full-bodied, coming with a broadleaf maduro wrapper atop dual binders and Nicaraguan long-fillers. A bona fide treat for the full-bodied fan, hearty and booming flavors will electrify you, setting the table for a sensational and enjoyable ride. Great news! Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro was named the #2 Cigar of the Year in 2016 and received a well-deserved 95-point rating, noting: “an attractive appearance that hints at the bold blend of Nicaraguan tobacco under the broadleaf wrapper—and they harmonize beautifully, imparting earthy, nutty notes and bittersweet chocolate with the sweeter properties of the wrapper.”

Batch 014: Whirlpool of Hops
Double Dry Hopped New England Style Pale Ale

From the *Hobo’s Brewery… All the buzzwords in this guy. If we are going to make a pale ale, you better believe we are going to drop a metric f*** ton of hops in it, and do it our own way. This beer has no hops in the boil, just in the whirlpool and in the dry hop. This huge late addition of hops gives this guy tons of tropical fruit hop flavors while keeping the bitterness low, so this is kinda a juice bomb. Low alcohol and light body on this brew means you can drink a bunch of them if you wanted to, and we bet you will after trying this tasty liquid.

*What Is A Hobo Brewery?
With a backpack as his bindlestick, Charles Navillus glides from town to town like a better beer fairy, alighting on breweries and blessing them with his barley-based goodness. The King of the Hobos calls no brick-and-mortar his home. Instead, he rents unused fermentation capacity at established breweries, filling otherwise empty fermenters with high-octane magic.
Not being shackled to a building allows Navillus as much freedom to create as he has to move. His beers dart from style to style, rarely brewing the same beer twice. Blink and you will miss him, with only archaic and incoherent hobo signs drawn in the sand as evidence of his having passed through.

Camacho
American Barrel Aged
$11.99 (+10% off!)

Strength:  Medium-Full
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Origin:  Dominican Republic

Camacho delivers an American classic.

New innovations are seen a lot in the cigar industry. Everyone is trying to up the ante in one way or another. Some are flush and some are bust, but it never hinders manufacturers from giving it a go. But here, we have an absolute homerun for team innovation. Camacho has been thinking outside the box for some time now, and with the cigar at hand, they pulled a Babe Ruth and knocked this one straight out of the park. Enter, Camacho’s newest innovation, American Barrel Aged.

Utilizing nearly 100% American leaves, Camacho Barrel Aged boasts a bold, oily Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper with American Broadleaf tobaccos also making appearances in the binder and filler tobaccos. The key to the blend comes in the form of a special Corojo filler leaf that’s aged for 6 years, only to be additionally stored in bourbon barrels to impart a truly unique flavor to an already stellar blend. The first Camacho to be produced in Davidoff of Geneva’s prestigious Dominican factory, American Barrel Aged showcases bold notes of pepper, cashew, and sweet spices that are accented by a slight undertone of bourbon to deliver a blend you won’t soon forget.

Alec Bradley Black Market
$8.99 (+10% off!)

Strength:  Medium
Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Origin:  Honduras

So good, it should be illegal.

When Alan Rubin commits to a project, quality standards of the highest decree are implemented, sparing no resource in the process. As a result, Alan Rubin, the founder of Alec Bradley cigars, has been churning out delectable blends since 1997. His prestigious line is continually receiving countless praise from the nation’s top cigar advocates – Cigar Aficionado, Cigar journal, Cigar insider (you get the point). Bragging about his innumerable 90+ ratings almost feels arbitrary….almost. So in short, Alan Rubin’s masterful blends are good. Scratch that, great.

The latest release from Alec Bradley cigars, Black Market, was launched at the 2011 IPCPR tradeshow (a festival for industry geeks). This 4-country blend is jam-packed with Jamastran, Honduras and Panamanian long-fillers, capped off by a lively Sumatra binder and powerful Nicaraguan wrapper leaf. Upon first lighting, the blend burns with purpose. Unique and satisfying arrays of flavors greet your palate, as spice, pepper, and peaty undertones finish the ensemble. With a long dry finish, and slow burn, the Black Market cigar is a finger burner.

Alec Bradley Black Market received a well-deserved 90-rating, noting: “A thick log of a cigar with a full, even draw. Herbal notes of juniper become sweet and cedary, taking on touches of nut and candied orange peel.”

Born Again Yesterday
7.0% ABV
16oz. $4.99  32oz. $8.99  64oz. $16.99

An UnFiltered Born Again Pale Ale for all the wet hop lovers!

We’ve discovered that the Lagunitas brewers are part time alchemists… they’ve figured out how to keep wet hops wet all freakin’ year long! The next beer in our 2017 #OneHitter Series is this Born Again Yesterday Pale Ale, which features a delicious concoction of wet hops, reborn and unfiltered into our Born Yesterday Pale Ale. Congrats… It’s a beer again!

MORE ABOUT THE FREAKIN’ WET HOPS:

To figure out this brand new wet hop preservation process, we had to forget everything that we already knew about how hops are processed and preserved. We tried 5 or 6 different things to try and achieve this process (some of which failed miserably), then we discovered a relatively simple process that deliberately did all the things that the textbooks told us not to do.

This new proprietary process involves a lot of time and money, and even more thinking about hops and freshness in new ways. From all of this, we found a brand-spankin’-new way to preserve the hops, fresh from the Yakima Valley trellises, first born during harvest season into the Born Yesterday last fall, and reborn into this scary new next step, the Born Again Yesterday Pale Ale, six months later, to the beer in your hands today.
